First Model:-

The first model was develped in 1973. It was created and realized by the US Deparment of Defense. It became fully operational in 1994.

Old GPS Model:-

The old GPS model's concept was only to locate the user using satellite navigation. They were used by drivers mostly to produce route for their cars or lorries. The main advantage of this model is that it is faster than the a normal road map and the recieve up-to-date traffic conditions. The problem was that the display was very small.

Later GPS Designs:-

Later designs were introduced in the market. They had a lot of extra features comparing to the earliest model. The display has improved a lot as it got wider and better. Voice guiding was introduced in these devices which made tracking easier. These devices also had applications like the clock, timer, stopwatch, games and etc...

 Modern GPS Designs:-

Today, GPS can be found almost everywhere: in cars, smartphones, watches, etc... The GPS technology has improved so much. The quality is rich, display is excellent and it is also very accurate in locating. The features are tripplled and more applications have been added. In smartphones, GPS is an application which can be used to show drivers & pedestriants the routes and alternative path in case of traffic jam. Still, it has to updated every now and then to provide its user with accurate information about the locations.

(This is an example of GPS in a car.)

Future Designs:-

Companies are still working to develp a brand new desgin for GPS with extra features and accessories for a better tomorrow.
